SERI ALAM: Johor marine police seized RM44,879.28 worth of contraband beer and liquor stored at a phone accessory shop in Taman Desa Cemerlang, Ulu Tiram, here, yesterday.
A man in his 50s, who worked as a cashier, was arrested after 52 boxes of liquor suspected of being untaxed were found at the shop.
The suspect, who has a criminal record, was remanded for six days to facilitate investigations into the contraband.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said Tampoi Marine police Region Two officers raided the shop at 8.35pm.
Police also seized a car, bringing the total value of the seizure to RM124,879.28, he said.
