RM17k worth of diesel seized from unlicensed Bukit Kayu Hitam premises

ALOR STAR: The Kedah Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry seized 7,400 litres of diesel worth over RM17,000 during a raid on a wholesale premises in Bukit Kayu Hitam yesterday (Jan 6).

State director Muhammad Nizam Jamaludin said the noon raid followed two weeks of intelligence gathering.

"A man in his 20s, believed to be an employee at the premises, was detained during the operation but later released after providing a statement.

"Initial checks revealed that the premises' wholesale licence for controlled goods had expired on Oct 2, 2024.

"Further checks uncovered diesel stored on the premises, along with transaction records indicating the sale of controlled goods after the licence had lapsed.

"The raiding team confiscated 7,400 litres of diesel valued at RM17,612, along with related documents and sales records for further investigation," he said in a statement today (Jan 7).

The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 (Act 122).

Nizam reminded businesses to ensure their licences or permits for trading or storing controlled goods were valid to avoid legal repercussions.
