Four lorries seized in crackdown on commercial vehicles

SEPANG: Police have seized four lorries following a crackdown on commercial vehicles in the district.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman said the operation, launched on Jan 7, would carry on until Jan 14.

"A total of eight roadblocks have been set up and to date, our personnel have checked 1,103 people and 896 vehicles.

"They have issued 162 summonses for various offences," he told reporters today.

He said police managed to arrest three wanted suspects in connection with a cheating case at Melaka Tengah, and two drug related cases at Putrajaya and Banting.

"We also seized four lorries for various offences including not having a valid licence and road tax," he said.

Norhizam said police would not compromise on issues involving road safety.

"These operations will be carried out from time to time to ensure that motorists always abide by the traffic laws.

"We also urge anyone with information on such cases to come forward and assist us in our investigations," he said.
