BN to unveil manifesto on April 7

KUALA LUMPUR: BARISAN Nasional is expected to reveal its manifesto on a grand scale at Stadium Putra in Bukit Jalil on April 7.

The unveiling will likely see the 14th General Election (GE14) being held late next month or early May.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is BN chairman, is expected to launch the manifesto in front of coalition supporters.

All 13 senior leaders from BN’s component parties, including those in Sabah and Sarawak, are expected to attend.

For GE13, Najib unveiled BN’s manifesto at Stadium Putra on April 6, 2013 — 28 days before the polls.

For GE12, BN’s manifesto was unveiled by then prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at the Putra World Trade Centre on Feb 28, 2008 — 11 days before the polls.

Umno information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the BN manifesto would be revealed next month, but declined to give further details.

However, he hinted that the manifesto would have better promises and offerings compared with what others had laid on the table.

“All I can say is, just wait... (the wait) is not going to be too long.

“The (BN) manifesto will be far better,” he said.

Prior to this, Najib had said that BN’s manifesto for GE14 would be the best for the coalition to continue its people-centric agenda for the next five years.

He had reportedly said that BN had fulfilled 97.6 per cent of the 17 promises in its GE13 manifesto.

It is learnt that among offerings the people can look forward to in the upcoming manifesto is one specifically for youth.
