2020 Budget: RM70 million for Digital Enhancement Centres nationwide [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has allocated RM70 million to build 14 one-stop Digital Enhancement Centres in all states to facilitate access to financing and capacity-building for businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, when tabling the 2020 Budget in Parliament today, said the move is in line with the government’s push towards digital transformation to meet the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0).

"A budget of RM70 million will be allocated to the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation to set up these centres. (The initiative is) an extension of the 100 Go Digital programme.

"To also promote knowledge-sharing and education through digital-enabled content, the government proposes to establish three new digital libraries in Kedah, Perak and Johor," he added.
