KUALA LUMPUR: Puan Sri Faridah Mohamed, wife of former minister Tan Sri Sabbaruddin Chik, passed away at 12.40am today.
The 75-year-old died at KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital here, following a brain aneurysm and a stroke.
Daughter Salina Sabbaruddin said her mother passed away with her family beside her, after a month of receiving treatment at the hospital.
"My mother was a loving woman. Part of her life was devoted to supporting my dad's career in politics.
Faridah, who was born in Kota Baru, Kelantan, left behind a husband, four children and five grandchildren.
"(Among many other things), she will always be remembered for her cooking," Salina said, adding that her mother loved preparing laksa and kuih lompat tikam for her family.
Among those present during her funerary prayers at Saidina Umar Al-Khattab mosque in Bukit Damansara today were Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, former deputy information minister Datuk Khalid Yunus, and former New Straits Times chief editor Datuk A Kadir Jasin.
Faridah was buried at the Bukit Kiara cemetery at 12 noon.
