REMBAU: A 23-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving skidded and crashed into the rear of a trailer at Km232.2, northbound, of the North-South Expressway (Plus) near the Pedas-Linggi exit yesterday.
Rembau Fire and Rescue Station operations officer Abdul Halim Abdul Malik said the department received an emergency call at 4.27am and arrived at the scene half an hour later, with seven personnel.
"It took us five minutes to remove the victim, who was stuck in the driver's seat, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer," he said.
The victim's body was sent to the Tampin Hospital for a post-mortem.
The driver of the trailer, Mohd Saufi Fitri Rosli, 24, who was unharmed in the incident, said he was on his way from Johor Baru to Kajang, Selangor, when he heard a loud bang from behind.
"I was startled by the bang... I then stopped in the emergency lane. I saw that the victim was trapped inside the vehicle and unconscious, and I subsequently made an emergency call," he said. -- Bernama
