Task force set up to verify viral video of Puchong rape, robbery

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have set up an investigating taskforce to verify the authenticity of a viral video depicting a rape and robbery which allegedly took place in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong.

Serdang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said police are conducting a thorough probe to identify the victim, suspects and crime scene.

However, police have yet to receive any report on the incident.

“We urge the victim and the premises owner to come forward to shed light on the case.

“(Also), anyone with information on the incident should channel it to us via any police station,” he said, adding that he hopes netizens would stop speculating on and spreading the unverified video.

The 244-second video, which has garnered more than 111,000 views, appears to show two unidentified men taking turns raping a cashier at a store.

As the recording was in high-definition, the faces of all involved could be clearly seen.
