MELAKA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today detained the Alor Gajah criminal investigation department (CID) chief as part of its probe into an alleged protection racket for vice dens in the state.
The man, a superintendent, was taken into custody at noon today.
This brings the number of individuals detained as part of the probe to 13. Also arrested in the probe were two Melaka district police chiefs.
MACC deputy chief commissioner Datuk Azam Baki confirmed the latest arrest, while Melaka police chief Datuk Abdul Jalil Hassan has thus far refrained from further comment.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar this morning announced a reshuffle of 15 police officers in Melaka following the MACC swoop that had brought down the alleged protection racket in the state.
