KUALA TERENGGANU: Another Malaysian jetliner experienced an engine failure over New Delhi on Sunday.
The Malindo Air flight was returning to Kuala Lumpur from Lahore, Pakistan when one of its two engines failed.
Just hours apart on the same day, a Kuala Lumpur bound AirAsia X flight from Perth had also turned back after one of its engines failed.
In the Air Malindo flight, with one engine running, pilots of the Boeing 737-900 aicraft turned it around and diverted it to New Delhi.
Civil Aviation department director-general Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman in confirming the incident, said a full report had been submitted by the airline for investigations to proceed.
“We are having a thorough look into details of the incident, to determine the cause of the engine failure.
“As per routine, all relevant parties (like the engine manufacturer) will assist in the investigations,” said Azharuddin.
He also expressed concern over the Air Malindo incident, just hours apart from the AirAsia X one the same day over Australian airspace.
