KUALA LUMPUR: A video has surfaced on Instagram showing dramatic footage from inside Malaysia Airlines flight MH199, which made an emergency landing due to technical issues.
The brief clip captures a section of the plane's wing glowing orange with sparks flying profusely, recorded through a cabin window.
The video, posted on the aircrew.in Instagram account, includes a caption stating, "Kuala Lumpur bound flight from Hyderabad with over 100 passengers on board, made an emergency landing at Hyderabad due to right engine failure."
It was reported earlier today that Malaysia Airlines flight MH199, departing from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in India, was en route to Kuala Lumpur when it encountered engine trouble.
The Times of India reported that the flight, carrying over 100 passengers, took off at 12.45am but was forced to return to Hyderabad airport shortly after due to the technical malfunction.
The flight had initially been scheduled to depart at 12.15am.
It is understood that the aircraft experienced an engine malfunction, resulting in visible sparks from the affected engine.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Airlines has confirmed flight MH199 from Hyderabad to Kuala Lumpur on June 20 returned to Hyderabad due to an issue with one of its engines during the climb after take-off.
"The aircraft safely landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at 3.21am local time, and all passengers and crew disembarked safely."
"Affected passengers will be reallocated to other flights for their continued journey," it said, adding that the aircraft is currently grounded for further inspection.
