JOHOR BARU: One person was killed while seven others were injured in a three-vehicle collision at Km5 of Jalan Perani-Lok Heng near Kota Tinggi yesterday.
Abd Rauf Yaakob, 80, from Baling, Kedah, was killed on-the-spot when the driver of the Perodua Alza he was in lost control and collided with two other vehicles in the opposite lane.
The 30-year-old female driver of the Perodua Alza and another passenger sustained serious injuries, while three others in the MPV suffered minor injuries in the 4.10pm accident.
The driver and passengers of a Toyota Vios from Kuala Terengganu also suffered minor injuries, while the driver of a second Perodua Alza from Pasir Gudang, Johor Baru was unhurt.
Kota Tinggi District Police chief Supt Ahsmon Bajah said the body of Abd Rauf was brought to the Kota Tinggi Hospital for post mortem, while the surviving victims are being treated at the same hospital.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said, adding that the public should always be cautious and abide by road regulations during this Aildifitri period. -- BERNAMA
