KOTA TINGGI: A 35-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a five-vehicle pileup along Km20.4 of Jalan Kota Tinggi - Kulai, here, early this morning.
The accident occured at 5.55am when visibility was low due to the dense fog.
District police chief Superintendent Hussin Zamora said preliminary investigations revealed the victim was traveling from Kulai towards Kota Tinggi on his motorcycle, when he crashed into the rear of a lorry due to limited visibility from the thick fog.
The impact caused the motorcyclist to fall, while a car driven by a 36-year-old man, traveling in the same direction crashed into the motorcycle and dragged it, causing it to catch on fire.
However, the motorcyclist who was still on the road, was run over by another car driven by a 53-year-old man, who was unable to see the victim lying on the road due to poor visibility.
The car was then rear-ended by a 31-year-old woman in the fifth vehicle, who could not avoid the collision in time.
Hussin said the motorcyclist was a factory worker from Pasir Gudang, who suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other drivers were not injured.
