KUALA LUMPUR: A couple's big day in Gombak on Saturday was disrupted when a group of parang-wielding men crashed the wedding and caused a commotion with their antics.
It is understood that trouble began at 3.30pm when the men barged into the Taman Melati Gombak community hall, where the wedding was taking place.
The bridegroom told the police that the men had accused him and his friends of making a din with their motorcycles.
The men then threw firecrackers into the hall and barged into the hall with a parang.
They allegedly tore the victim’s clothes and took cash given by guests before destroying a Honda superbike rented for the big day.
A video of the incident has since gone viral.
Wangsa Maju deputy district police chief Deputy Superintendent Ramli Kasa said the incident involved 20 people. Police, he said, arrested a 32-year-old man at the scene on the same day.
“We are currently tracking down the other men believed to have been involved," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for possessing weapons at riot.
