Najib joins funeral prayers for Zailah Ismail

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today performed the funeral prayers for the late Zailah Ismail, daughter of Malaysia's second deputy prime minister, Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman.

Najib and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor arrived at the At-Taqwa Mosque Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), at 1.20pm. He first joined hundreds of other members of the congregation to perform the Friday prayers led by Imam Mohd Fadlullah Mohd Nor.

Zailah, 64, was the second child out of six siblings. She died at 4.30am this morning from cancer at Damansara Specialist Hospital.

Her remains was buried at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery after the prayers.

The former New Straits Times journalist also served Bank Negara governor as a public affairs advisor.
