Mahkota assemblyman's funeral to be held after Asar prayers [WATCH]

KLUANG: The funeral of Mahkota assemblywoman Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain will be held later this afternoon.

She will be buried after Asar prayers at the Kampung Melayu Muslim Cemetery in Kluang, family members told reporters.

The late Sharifah was admitted to Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital (HEBHK) on Tuesday for internal bleeding before succumbing to her illness this morning.

At the hospital lobby, her youngest child, Wan Harizahtul Nadia, 33, was seen crying uncontrollably over her mother's passing.

Relatives present were seen comforting Nadia, who was dressed in a black robe and headscarf.

It is understood that the body will be bathed and shrouded at HEBHK after Friday prayers before being taken back to the family residence on Jalan Ahmad Khan, Kluang, for the final respects.

Several local leaders, including Former Unity Minister Halimah Mohamed Sadique, were also present to pay their last respects.

Sharifah leaves behind four children: Wan Mohd Hibatullah, 40; Wan Mohd Hazwan, 39; Wan Mohd Hasbullah, 34; and Wan Harizahtul Nadia, 33, as well as 13 grandchildren.

Her husband, Abu Bakar Mohd Amin, 45, passed away in 2005 due to lymphoma.
