KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will share more intelligence on Islamic State (IS) with Saudi Arabia following the failed missile attack aimed at Mecca on Thursday.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said he and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Salman, who is also defence minister, have agreed to swap information on IS attacks in Marawi, the Philippines; and Yemen's Houthi rebels’ attack on the Holy City.
"I spoke with him yesterday and we agreed to share information following the latest developments.
"Thankfully, our relations with the Gulf states are good, so it is not difficult for us to share detailed information with each other," he told reporters after opening the Bandar Tun Razak Umno divisional meeting here today.
Saudi Defence forces intercepted a ballistic missile 69km from the Al-Wasliya area in Taif province, Mecca, on Thursday.
The Burkan-1 ballistic missile, reportedly launched by Houthi rebels in Yemen, did not claim any lives.
