RapidKL uses Annabelle to 'scare' commuters into behaving

KUALA LUMPUR: Taking commuters’ conduct to task again, RapidKL has decided to employ the use of Annabelle, that infamous haunted doll, to remind all its users on the need to be courteous and considerate.

In its latest post on Facebook, Annabelle could be seen sitting at one of the MRT gate entrances and the other taking a ride on the MRT herself.

The pictures came with the caption: “Dear valued customers, lately we’ve been receiving surprise visits from Annabelle. Mind your manners while you are on our trains or… she will haunt you FOREVER.”

It was also captioned with hashtags #citizenwithmannerswanted and #forabetterfuture.

RapidKL’s spokesman said the sole purpose of the witty campaign was to generate civic awareness among the public.

“It is heartening (for us) to receive such feedback from the public and we believe this has generated so much awareness.

“We hope that the public’s social etiquette will be improved, not only when using the public transportation but also when they use any public facilities,” said its spokesman when contacted by New Straits Times.

The post uploaded today has now received more than 18,000 reactions on Facebook with over 6,300 shares.

Netizens have voiced their support towards Rapid KL’s new method of educating the public on social etiquettes when using the public transportation.

Some have now even called on RapidKL to give a raise to the admin of its social media platform.

“Admin, you are so entertaining. I rarely follow corporate page like yours. But this one had won my heart. Your sarcasm is acceptable. Well done,” said Facebook user, Farhanim Zainal.

“Genius move RapidKL,” said another user, Hanisa Hj Hassan.

“This is one of the way that might attract attention among the public transport users. Keep it up, admin. Humorous, but full of message at the same time,” commented Alif Ikhwan.

The series of awareness post which began last Wednesday came after irresponsible users were found to have vandalised the facilities of the newly launched MRT.

The line which runs from Sungai Buloh to Kajang was launched on July 17.
