Car ploughs into two motorcyclists under Penang flyover, one dead

SEBERANG JAYA: A car knocked into two motorcyclists seeking shelter from the rain, under a flyover here, instantly killing one person, early this morning.

The other injured motorcyclist has been rushed to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for treatment.

Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the incident happened at KM139 of the North-South Expressway about 6am.

He said initial investigations at the scene revealed that the car, driven by a 67-year-old security guard from Seberang Jaya, towards the Prai Industrial Area, had skidded and rammed into the two motorcyclists under the flyover.

"A 55-year-old female motorcyclist was injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

"Another motorcyclist, identified as Abdul Fadhil Razak, 29, a PLUS employee, sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.

"His remains have been sent to the hospital for a post mortem examination," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
