PUTRAJAYA: National Housing Department director-general Datuk Abd Rahim Ishak died early this morning.
It is learnt that the 55-year-old had complained of chest pain at about 2am and drove himself to the Nilai Medical Centre.
While seeking treatment there, he lost consciousness and was pronounced dead at about 3am.
Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohammad Mentek confirmed Rahim’s passing today.
Yesterday, Rahim had attended the groundbreaking ceremony by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak for the Ampar Tenang People's Housing Project in Dengkil.
Rahim's body will be transported to the Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem.
He was appointed director-general of the National Housing Department just last year.
