KUALA LUMPUR: Today is the last day for the public to submit their ideas and aspirations for the 2018 Budget.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today those who wanted to share their ideas should do so by 6pm today.
“Alhamdulliah... I have received more than 12,000 ideas and suggestions from fellow Malaysians for the 2018 Budget. For those who have yet to join the campaign or would still like to share more ideas, you may do so at https://bajet2018.najibrazak.com/ before 6pm today,” he said.
Najib called on Malaysians to grab the opportunity to plan their own future.
The dedicated interactive website provides an opportunity for all Malaysians from all levels of society to take part in the process of outlining the country’s annual budget, which will be inclusive and meet the people’s needs.
Early this month, Najib said the public could submit their ideas under 14 different categories — digital economy, cost of living, urban well-being and housing, health services, transportation and infrastructure, rural development, environment and agriculture, youth and sports, culture and tourism as well as public safety and transparency.
He had said the initiative of getting the public to submit ideas and aspirations, which began in 2012, demonstrates the government’s openness and its preference for a bottom-up approach to democratise the annual budget.
For the 2017 Budget, Najib said a total of 8,352 suggestions were received and taken into consideration.
