KUALA LUMPUR: A 10-year-old girl is now brain dead and on life support after becoming a victim of a hit-and-run accident, reports said.
According to a report published by China Press today, the girl was riding a bicycle when she was struck by a vehicle in Kuang at about 5pm on Nov 14.
She was rushed to the hospital by her grandfather and underwent emergency brain surgery, where doctors diagnosed her with a brain haemorrhage.
The report also quoted a social media post from a Facebook page of the school's alumni, which revealed that the family and school are appealing for witnesses to help identify the driver responsible.

"Leaving the scene after hitting (crashing into) a child is extremely irresponsible. We must find the driver.
"We urge anyone who passed by the area between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on that day to check their dashcam footage to see if they captured any part of the accident," she said.
The family has since received several dashcam clips believed to show the scene of the accident and has submitted them to the police for further investigation.
Police, in a statement on Saturday, confirmed the accident involving the girl.
Sungai Buloh police chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said a report on the incident was received at about 4.51pm.
"The case is being investigated under the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving," he said.
He added that the investigation is ongoing and urged the public to avoid speculating about the incident.
