Malaysian couple breaks own Guinness World Record for most costume changes in a minute

GEORGE TOWN: Ever wonder how long it takes an average person to complete 24 changes of 25 costumes?

Quite some time, naturally.

However, for Malaysian husband and wife team Avery Chin Yoke Leong and Sylvia Lim Chay Meei, it only takes them a mere minute.

On Sept 2, the magician couple took to the stage at the Penang Street Food Festival for the record-breaking “quick change” act, earning them their third Guinness World Records recognition for the “Most costume change illusions in one minute by an individual”.

The feat, witnessed by more than 100,000 people, was approved and marked by Guinness World Records officials.

Chin and Lim also broke their old record of 22 changes of 23 costumes.

Chin said they did their best for the country to earn the Guinness World Records recognition.

“It goes to show that Malaysia can do it.

“We thank all those who gave us the opportunity to fulfill our goal and break our previous record.”

He said the latest achievement was timely as Malaysia just celebrated its 60th National Day, making this feat a special and memorable one.

The couple, in their 30s, have been married for more than five years.

It took them more than six years of practise to master their act.
