2018 Budget: Govt to invest RM5 billion in green technology

KUALA LUMPUR: To ensure a sustainable green development, the government today announced an allocation of RM5 billion to implement the Green Technology Financing Scheme.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, when tabling the 2018 Budget in Parliament today, said the allocation is aimed at encouraging more investments in the green technology industry.

He also said a total RM1.4billion will be allocated to implement the Non-Revenue Water programme to reduce water wastage.

Najib said another RM1.3billion will used to build an Off-River Storage as an alternative water source.

A total of RM517 million, he said, is allocated for flood mitigation projects nationwide.
