Relatives claim bodies of 4 Singaporean victims in Port Dickson crash

PORT DICKSON: The remains of four Singaporeans who were killed in a tragic accident at the Lukut-Sepang T-junction here yesterday have been claimed by family members at Port Dickson Hospital, here.

It is learnt that the victims will be buried at Choa Chu Kang Muslim Cemetery in Singapore.

In the 2.30pm incident here on Wednesday, Rosli Samad, 54, his wife, Maimunah Sapari, 51, and their two daughters, Dayana Sarah and Nor Amalina, aged 18 and 21 respectively, were killed when a lorry crashed into their car in a multiple vehicle accident, which involved two other cars and a motorcycle.

Five others were also injured in the accident.

When met at the hospital, Rosli’s friend who refused to be named said, he rushed from Singapore as soon as he learnt of the accident.

“He was a good friend. He is also known as a good motorcycle mechanic and we have been friends for eight years. As a friend, this is the least I could do to help him for the last time,” he said, adding that he is still shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Rosli.

“They were on their way back to Singapore yesterday, when the accident took place. Rosli has four children – two boys and two girls. However, his sons didn’t join the family trip,” he said.

He added, earlier, Rosli’s body had been sent to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital for post-mortem while his wife and two daughters were sent to the Port Dickson Hospital.

He added three hearses will be used to bring the remains of the victims back to Singapore.

Meanwhile, Rosli’s cousin from Shah Alam Selangor, who also refused to be named said, she found out about the accident on Wednesday night via a post on Facebook.

“I immediately contacted my family members in Singapore to confirm the news. It was shocking, sad news to all of us,” she said.

“I was informed that they were on a vacation in Port Dickson and were supposed to return home this evening,” she said.

Family members of the victims were spotted gathering at the hospital as early as 8am.
