KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today expressed his gratitude at being able to enter the Kaabah at the Masjidil Haram in Mecca yesterday.
Najib, via a social media post, shared an image of him in ihram, exiting the Kaabah.
“Allahuakbar (God is great). I am extremely moved and grateful to be offered a chance to enter the Kaabah and see the 'home of Allah'. Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God),” he wrote.
He followed up his post with another image, this time of him and his mother, Tun Rahah Noah, as well as his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, at the Masjidil Haram.
"Grateful to Allah for blessing me with health and enabling me to tawaf with my mother and family. Alhamdulillah," he wrote.
On Tuesday, Najib kicked off a five-day working visit to Saudi Arabia in order to discuss bilateral matters the states agreed on during King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud visit's to Malaysia last year.
The Prime Minister’s Office also stated that Najib was accompanied by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom.
Others on the trip are Najib’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, his mother Tun Rahah Mohammad Noah, family members, acquaintances and his officers.
As Najib is performing umrah (minor haj) during the official visit he also invited several family members and some acquaintances to accompany him for the prayers.
The Prime Minister’s Office in a statement yesterday also said that Najib’s siblings and acquaintances paid for their own expenses to the Holy Land.
It further said that all their names were included in the official list of the prime minister’s delegation to ease administrative matters with the Saudi government for the umrah.
