PAPAR: The state government today criticised the opposition for trying to play up racial sentiments to gain the people’s support in Sabah in the coming elections.
Chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman said the move is unacceptable and should be stopped as it is not the practice of this State, which is known for its diversity and tolerance.
“Sabah is known for its unity and acknowledged by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as the best example of 1Malaysia.
“So there should not be any issue with race and religion here,” he said when launching the state-level 18th Pesta Gambus organised by Sabah Brunei Community Association here today.
Previously, many quarters have criticised Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) leaders for claiming there is a racism element in the ‘genuine Sabahan’ term used by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman.
Meanwhile, Pesta Gambus which is a yearly event is an arts festival practiced by the Brunei community in this State, which have been residing in the west coast area like in this district.
