KUCHING: A man who wore a ring around his penis had to seek the help of the Fire and Rescue Department when he could not remove it this morning. A pair of scissors he had tried to use to cut open the ring also got stuck and had to be professionally removed.
The 45-year-old man decided to seek the help of firemen at the Batu Lintang station at 11.30am when he failed to remove the ring.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Services Department deputy director Tiong Ling Hii said the victim turned up with both the ring and scissors stuck to his penis.
Firemen could not do anything and had to send the man to the Sarawak General Hospital as they were afraid he would sustain grievous injuries.
"The victim was brought to the hospital on an ambulance for further action and help from medical professionals.
"Special equipment such as a saw, among others, were used to remove the items," he said.
Tiong said the procedure was carried out carefully to ensure the man was not hurt.
He added that within 25 minutes, the items were successfully removed. "The man is reported to be in stable condition and being monitored by the hospital's medical team."
