SHAH ALAM: Seventy-six staff members of the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) Klang have been suffering from food poisoning since Wednesday, after partaking in food prepared by a private caterer during a department meeting.
“A total of 76 staff members (from the Department of Anaesthesia) were affected, and some required admission.
“The hospital management, together with the clinical team, managed the situation well to ensure the smooth operations of hospital services.
“All emergency operations and intensive care services were not affected. Since those (who came down with food poisoning) are from the Department of Anaesthesia, some of the elective operations scheduled for Thursday and Friday were postponed,” HTAR Director Dr Ding Lay Ming said yesterday.
She added that the relevant authorities from the Health Ministry will take necessary remedial action pending the result of an investigation. – BERNAMA
