BATU PAHAT: For one month beginning today, the Road Transport Department (RTD) is offering a 70 per cent discount on the payment of all summonses and compounds previously issued.
Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi said that the discount is being offered in conjunction with the department’s 72nd anniversary.
He said the rebate is historic, as the department has never offered such a high discount in the 72 years of its existence.
"The public should grab this opportunity to pay the various summonses and compounds issued by the department (before) the offer ends on May 2. Payment can be made at all RTD offices nationwide.
"However, the discount is not applicable for five offences – (those committed) under the Automated Awareness Safety System (AwAS); offences under the Automatic Enforcement System (AES); overloading of vehicles of over five tonnes; court summonses; and summonses and compounds involving foreigners,” Aziz said when contacted by NSTP.
Earlier, Aziz launched the national-level 72nd RTD anniversary celebration at Dataran BP Mall here.
Also present were the ministry's secretary general Datuk Seri Saripuddin Kasim and RTD director general Datuk Shaharuddin Khalid.
