PUTRAJAYA: Bersih 2.0 has lodged a report with the Election Commission (EC) on various complaints related to the electoral roll that will be used for the upcoming 14th general election (GE14).
Acting Bersih 2.0 chairman Shahrul Aman Mohd Saari said they have submitted 80 complaints since parliament was dissolved on April 7.
Among the complaints include the issue of those who have not registered as voters being found in the electoral roll and certain registered voters having their names removed from the electoral roll.
Other complaints include those pertaining to the EC not processing applications to register and change of addresses.
“There are also names of those who have died and those who have relinquished their citizenships in the electoral roll,” he told reporters after lodging the report with the EC.
He is urging the EC to come up with explanations on the matters raised and to take the necessary action to protect the integrity of the electoral roll before polling day.
“The EC should also issue written explanations to each complainant with regards to electoral roll issues.
“We are also calling on other voters with similar problems to lodge their complaints with the EC and we are willing to cooperate with the commission if it needs any information on electoral roll issues,” he said.
