Police confirm search ongoing at Najib's home

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed that a search is being carried out at the residence of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak tonight.

This was confirmed by Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director, Datuk Seri Amar Singh.

It is understood that the search is being done to obtain evidence and documents. Amar, however, declined to elaborate when asked.

“I can confirm that our team is at the residence to conduct a search,” he said.

Another police team is currently at the Pavilion Residence apartments in the city centre.

NSTP has yet to be able to verify reports which claim that five locations were the targets of police operations.

More than 15 police cars and a police truck were seen entering the residence of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, at Jalan Langgak Duta here tonight.

Sources at the scene said a team of officers from the Federal Commercial Crime Department are here to seize documents and evidence related to an ongoing investigation. Details of the supposed investigation are unavailable at the moment.

A police truck was spotted carrying boxes, widely believed to be used to store any evidence seized.

Lawyer Hasnal Rezua Merican was seen entering the residence at 11.05pm.

Najib, accompanied by outriders, had earlier gone to perform his terawih prayers at the Kampung Baru mosque. His vehicle left the house sometime after 8pm and returned around 9.50pm.--Report by Safeek Affendy Razali, Kalbana Perimbanayagam and Nor Azizah Mokhtar
