Bahri rejoins MACC

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Bahri Mohammad Zin reported for duty at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today after he was called to rejoin the anti graft body by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The former MACC special operations division director, who appeared at the commission’s headquarters in Putrajaya, said he accepted the offer in the spirit of trust and responsibility to the country.

"I was asked to help continue the investigation into the SRC International case which was completed before I put in my request for an early retirement.

"I hope the public will cooperate in giving information pertaining to the individuals who received part of the illegal money channeled from the SRC funds, regardless of the amount," he said.

Bahri who held the position of special operations division director since Jun 16, 2014 opted for early retirement on Dec 30, 2016 after Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali did not consent to prosecuting the case.

Bahri played an important role in the SRC investigation, which was a subsidiary company of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

The special operations division unit was later changed to special investigations with its civil servants dowgraded to Grade C.
