KUALA LUMPUR: Amidst the government’s cost-cutting drive to boost the country’s coffers, instances of prudent spending by the rakyat are being shared online and widely applauded.
This is undoubtedly why a nine-second video clip of Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng simply having his lunch is being “eaten up” by netizens.
Posted by Nora Jamilah on her Facebook page last Saturday, the video has chalked up an astounding 368,000 views and 5,500 shares.
The brief, candid footage shows Guan Eng, his wife Betty Chew and his youngest son enjoying a meal of chicken rice at a crowded, run-of-the-mill food court, believed to be in the capital.
Among the most noteworthy aspects of the footage is the obvious relish with which the Finance Minister “whacks” his meal – he is clearly enjoying his food.
And Malaysians are clearly enjoying watching him do so.
