SHAH ALAM: A Proton Wira that went out of control while travelling along the Kesas Highway at midnight last night sparked a chain reaction which saw four other vehicles colliding and ramming into the road dividers.
Aside from the Proton Wira, the accident which occurred at KM29.8 also involved a trailer, a Perodua Myvi, a Hyundai Elantra and a Mitsubishi Storm.
Selangor traffic investigation and enforcement department chief Superintendent Azman Shariat said preliminary investigations showed that the accident first took place when the Proton Wira which was on the right lane spun to the middle lane.
“The Perodua Myvi which was travelling at the middle lane could not avoid the Proton Wira and both vehicles collided. At the same time, the Hyundai Elantra that was on the right lane was hit by a yet to be identified vehicle causing it to go out of control before it struck the road divider and then the Proton Wira.
“The trailer which was on the middle lane tried to avoid the cars within the same lane by moving to the right. However, it hit the Mitsubishi Storm which then crashed into the road divider,” said Azman in a statement.
The drivers of the Perodua Myvi, Hyundai Elantra and Mitsubishi Storm were respectively identified as Nachiappan N.Palaniappan, 30, Emily Loh Li Yeng,18 and T.MohanEllen @ Thandavamurthi, 52.
Azman said the drivers of the Proton Wira and trailer have yet to make police reports.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
