Jamal Yunos no-show at delegates meeting; sends WhatsApp message assuring loyalty

SUNGAI BESAR: To nobody’s surprise, Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos, who is defending the Sungai Besar Umno division chief post, failed to appear at the delegates meeting here today.

Nevertheless, he sent a message via WhatsApp assuring delegates of his loyalty to Umno, despite facing “various pressures.”

He said accusations levelled against him, and police reports made by Pakatan Harapan supporters against him prevented him from attending today’s meeting, or even to return home to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri with his family and friends.

“Although I am persecuted for minor offences, (and) despite being at the receiving end of… accusations from netizens on social media, I will not give up the fight for Umno,” he added.

Jamal said there is no reason for him not to be able to carry out his duties at the divisional level, even though he is unable to be at Sungai Besar in person.

“The Sungai Besar Umno division wings’ polls went on smoothly last week without my presence.

“I am confident and I believe that the delegates are able to make a wise and accurate decision to choose the division’s leadership, and at the same time, continue the momentum of the existing struggle (for the party),” he added.
