SHAH ALAM: The situation in the coastal areas in five districts in Selangor is still under control with no report of a spill over of the sea water as a result of the high tide phenomenon today.
Selangor Disaster Management Unit, in a statement, said the bund set up along the affected coastal areas areas is strong and in good condition.
No evacuation centre is opened as at 9 am today, it said.
The Klang, Kuala Langat, Sepang, Kuala Selangor dan Sabak Bernam are now placed on high-level to brace possible floods due to the high phenomenon, especially if there is strong winds and heavy rain.
The first wave of high tide is expected to begin today until Sept 12 along the coastal areas in Selangor, with the sea level to reach 5.4 metres.
According to the statement, the peak of the high tide phenomenon along the coastal areas in Selangor was recorded at Port Klang at 5.4 metres at 6.25 am, but the situation was still under control.
“Heavy rain also caused flash floods on Jalan Jepun and in Kampung Delek in the Klang district, but the water receded after the water lock was opened,” it said. - Bernama
