SEREMBAN: Nadi Rakyat Negri Sembilan is urging the state government to continue with its plan to take over the management of Mawar Medical Centre (MMC) and Mawar Haemodialysis Centre (MHC).
The non-governmental organisation’s president, Mohd Nazree Mohd Yunus, said this would safeguard the welfare of patients and doctors at the hospital.
“We were happy when the state government, through Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), announced the plan to take over MMC and MHC as a state-owned federal government hospital, as reported in the media last month,” he told a press conference, here, today.
“We see the decision as a positive move, where the state government’s desire to provide the best health services through the implementation of the Negri Sembilan health card, which is contained in the Pakatan Harapan manifesto, can be realised.
“However, we felt disappointed when we learnt that the plan wouldn’t proceed and that the centres would be taken over by a third party.
“We hope whoever is responsible for managing the centres in the future will continue to give priority to the interest and welfare of the people of this state.”
He said the state government should clarify why the plan to acquire MMC and MHC was dropped.
“We hope this issue will be resolved soon. We hope the Health Ministry will step in to resolve the issue.”
Last month, Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun was reported as saying that MBI would take over the management of MMC and MHC to ease the people’s burden.
However, it is learnt that the acquisition’s plan was cancelled due to several new rules set by the centre’s management.
The Health Ministry had ordered MMC to cease all operations following the resignation of all but one of its medical specialists, effective Nov 1.
However, the haemodialysis centre is allowed to operate as usual.
