MELAKA: Seven people, including an ambulance driver, were injured after the vehicle was hit by a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at KM7, Lebuh Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ) here this morning.
The 10.35am incident occurred when the ambulance, which was carrying six passengers, including two cancer patients, was on its way to Muar Hospital in Johor.
Jasin police chief Deputy Superintendent Arshad Abu said initial investigation found that the ambulance was on its way to Muar, while the MPV driven by a 22-year-old male was on its way from Jalan Kampung Tasek towards Sungai Rambai.
“The accident believed to have happened when the MPV hit the front left of the ambulance at a traffic light junction.
“Investigation also found that the driver was not intoxicated and both drivers claimed that the lights were green on their sides,” he said when contacted today.
Arshad said all the injured victims had been sent to Muar Hospital for treatment. The MPV driver escaped unhurt.
“The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
