GEORGE TOWN: A collision between two cars on the Penang Bridge this morning caused one of the vehicles to crash through the guard rail and plunge into the sea.
The accident took place at 2.50am at Km4 of the bridge, in the direction of the mainland.
When rescuers arrived at the scene, they found a heavily damaged Toyota Vios, while witnesses said the other car had fallen into the sea.
“We are working closely with Marine police in the ongoing search and rescue (SAR) mission.
“A boat has been deployed to the (area beneath the accident scene) to look for the vehicle,” said a spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department.
