'Bossku' makes surprise appearance at Ipoh's famous 'nasi vanggey' (NSTTV)

IPOH: The famous Ipoh 'nasi ganja' or Vanggey at Yong Suan Coffee Shop along Jalan Yang Kalsom, here, received a surprise visitor today.

Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak made heads turn as he arrived at the shop at about 1.20pm, with some calling out 'bossku', a tagline he has been using on social media lately.

Najib ordered beef rendang, fish curry, cuttlefish curry as well as the shop's famous 'ayam masak merah', among others.

The Pekan MP said he has been enjoying the 'nasi ganja' here for a long time and he knows the owner of Vanggey, but this is the first time he is enjoying a meal at the restaurant itself.

"I am used to nasi Vanggey but this is the first time I'm eating here.

"Definitely it is better to have the food here as it tastes better and I get to meet the rakyat," he said.

Najib said he would always find time to enjoy the delicious offerings of Vanggey whenever he was in Ipoh.

"The best and most delicious is of course the gravy, they guard the gravy like Coca Cola guards its formula. People don't know what the formula is, but it is very tasty," Najib who spent about an hour at the restaurant said.

Prior to Ipoh, Najib said he visited the Teratak Riverview recreational area in Tanjung Malim this morning.

"Over there, we had to use a 4x4, the roads were 'off track', there are places you have to go across rivers, it was very challenging but fun.

"It was an adventure and a new experience for me as I drove the 4x4 vehicle myself," he said, adding that such a recreational activity is very satisfying as it makes us appreciate Malaysia's nature.
