SEREMBAN: A gruesome accident at Km 248.4 of the North-South Expressway (Plus) here, yesterday, resulted in motorists employing emergency manoeuvres to avoid running over body parts strewn across the highway.
Motorcyclist Mazlan Masripan, 49, is believed to have lost control of his vehicle near the Senawang rest area at about 5.30am, which caused to him to lose his balance and fall off his vehicle.
He was then run over by a number of other vehicles, causing his body to be severed into many pieces.
It is understood that the event occurred following a rainstorm, and that the road was wet and slippery.
In the immediate aftermath of the accident, other vehicles swerved and skidded in all directions as their drivers desperately attempted to avoid running over the body parts.
“Early investigations revealed that the incident occurred along a straight road with three lanes, and that (it was) dark and (the road was wet following) a rainstorm.
“The victim, who was en route from Melaka to Kuala Lumpur, was in the left-most lane when he lost control of his vehicle.
“He is believed to have then been run over by several other vehicles,” Negri Sembilan Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Superintendent Ibrahim Mohd Abdul Kadir told Bernama.
He added that the victim was taken to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital for a post-mortem and that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Department 1987.
