KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has appointed state DAP acting chairman Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung as the new State Health and People's Wellbeing Minister.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said Poon will fill in the vacant state Health and People's Wellbeing portfolio following the death of its incumbent Datuk Stephen Wong on March 28.
"Poon, who is Tanjung Papat assemblyman, was the outgoing state Youth and Sports minister.
"The state government is appointing Luyang assemblyman Ginger Phoong to lead Sports and Youth Ministry," Shafie said in a press conference.
Phoong, 30, is Sabah DAP publicity secretary.
Shafie said he believes both candidates are capable of leading both ministries.
The state government also announced the appointment of Sabah DAP treasurer Loh Ee Eng as an appointed assemblyman.
"Three of them will be sworn-in next Tuesday.
"I would like to reiterate that there is no reshuffle in the cabinet and all assistant ministers are the same." Shafie said.
