KUANTAN: A Form Two student who passed out after a drinking session near his school was rushed to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan hospital here today.
The boy was supposed to attend the afternoon session, but instead skipped classes and joined two schoolmates in the drinking session involving cheap liquor.
When passersby noticed the boy lying unconscious in his uniform, they alerted the school’s management.
A medical team was dispatched to the scene.
The boy is reported to be out of danger.
District Education officer Mohd Razali Mustafar, who confirmed the incident, said the students would be given counselling and a meeting would be held with their parents.
He said a talk would be held at the school to warn the students against drinking.
Images of the incident, including the medical team attending to the student, has gone viral on social media, with some claiming that the victim had suffered methanol poisoning.
