ALOR GAJAH: Six people were killed and one injured in a collision between a Mitsubishi Triton, an Isuzu D-Max and a trailer lorry at Kampung Pegoh on the Alor Gajah-Melaka-Jasin (AMJ) highway here, on Friday night.

The deceased were a family of five, comprising the driver and four passengers of the D-Max; and the driver of the Triton. The family have been identified as a 57-year-old man, a 62-year-old woman, her 24-year-old daughter, and two children. Further details of their identities have yet to be released, Bernama reported.

The daughter of the Triton driver was severely injured in the crash, while the driver of the trailer lorry escaped unhurt.

The 9.40pm accident is believed to have occurred when the Triton, heading from Melaka to Simpang Ampat, skidded into the opposite lane and crashed head-on with the D-Max and lorry.

“All the victims were brought to the Melaka Hospital for post-mortems and treatment.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” Alor Gajah police chief Superintendent A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz told reporters at the scene.
