Upside down Jalur Gemilang found outside police retiree home

BUTTERWORTH: Police are investigating an incident where a Jalur Gemilang was found flying upside down at a police retiree home at Teluk Ayer Tawar, here, recently.

The 87-year-old had reportedly asked an unknown man to help him put up the flag outside his house on July 24.

The following day, he was taken away by his son to Perak, and was admitted to the Ipoh Hospital since due to illness.

At 3pm today, his daughter who came to the house to clean up, was surprised to see people flocking the front of the house, only to find that the flag was flying upside down.

Seberang Prai Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor said a report was lodged and investigations have commenced.

“Based on our investigation, we can conclude that no one resides at the house since the senior citizen left. The flag might also be unintentionally put upside down.

“However, we are in the midst of identifying the man who helped to put up the flag last month,” he said today.

The case is being investigated under Section 505 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act.
