Landslide affected Jalan Genting — Amber Court to be open to all vehicles tonight

BENTONG: The Jalan Genting — Amber Court stretch of road, near here, is expected to be open to all vehicles tonight.

It is currently only open to light vehicles, following a landslide in Genting Highlands yesterday evening.

Genting Highlands Fire and Rescue chief Yusry Abdullah Sani said: “Currently, we have only opened one lane which is accessible by foot and for light vehicles traveling to the residential units,” he told the New Straits Times.

“We are currently working to clear the debris on the road with the assistance of private contractors who are working at the nearby site.

“The weather has been promising and we are expected to complete the clearing works as scheduled later today.”

Yusry said no one living in nearby apartments had been ordered to evacuate.

He said, besides firemen and private contractors, the police and Civil Defence Force were also assisting at the site.

Meanwhile, Ketari assemblywoman Young Syefura Othman posted several images of the ongoing road clearing works on Twitter with the caption: “Cleaning works at the site” (Kerja-kerja pembersihan di lokasi)

In the 5pm incident yesterday, a major landslide struck the area burying the Jalan Genting — Amber Court single-carriageway.

Several videos taken moments after the landslide occurred had since gone viral online.

No one was injured in the incident, which was triggered by heavy rain which lasted for several hours.
