Penang biker crashes into lamppost, body cut in two

BALIK PULAU: A man was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle, which skidded and crashed into a lamppost at the elevated section of the Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, here, this afternoon.

The body of Nor Azli Sharif Hassan, 31, from Sungai Rusa here, was cut in two due to the impact of the crash.

Southwest district police chief Superintendent A.A. Anbalagan said police received a call about the incident about 2.10pm and rushed to the scene.

“The victim, heading towards Batu Maung, is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle while riding along the expressway, causing him to skid to the right side of the road and his body hit the lamp post at the road divider, splitting into two.

“He died instantly at the scene,” he said.

Anbalagan said a post mortem c showed the victim died as a result of “polytrauma due to road traffic accident”.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
