Award-winning ex-Berita Harian journalist Tajuddin Saman dies

PUTRAJAYA: Tajuddin Saman, former Berita Harian journalist and winner of the prestigious Kajai Award in 1990, died at his house at Precinct 9 here, today.

Tajuddin, 72, leaves behind his wife Rohmah Ibrahim, 63; six children; and nine grandchildren.

The veteran newsman was in poor health and bedridden after suffering a stroke in 2012, Bernama reported.

Funeral prayers were held at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque here after the Maghrib prayer; and Tajuddin’s remains were buried at the Taman Selatan Islamic Cemetery at Precinct 20 here after the Isyak prayer.

Prior to his retirement, Tajuddin held the post of Press Secretary to Natural Resources and Environment Minister, Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid.

He also held the position of Press Secretary to Kedah Menteri Besar Tan Sri Osman Arof; and later, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Abdul Hamid Zainal Abidin.

Tajuddin also published the book “Dari Kodiang Ke Jalan Riong” on his career as a journalist.
