PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia today confirmed another case of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), which brings the tally of infections in the country to 16.
The 67-year-old woman, from Wuhan, China, is the mother of a friend of a 35-year-old woman who was tested positive for the coronavirus on Feb 6.
The pair, along with three friends, arrived in Malaysia for a holiday on Jan 25.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the 16th patient has been placed in the isolation ward of the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) and is in stable condition.
“(To date) there are four coronavirus cases involving Malaysians, and 12 involving Chinese nationals,” Dr Wan Azizah said at a press conference at the Health Ministry, today.
The 15th case, which was confirmed on Friday, is a 59-year-old woman, also from Wuhan, who arrived in Johor from Singapore with her husband, son and daughter-in-law, on Jan 24.
The woman is being treated at the isolation ward of the Permai Hospital in Johor Baru.
